The computer program entitled Chinook, was unveiled by University of Alberta “scientists” last week. This program, they claim, has “solved” checkers, making the program unbeatable. Apparently, these guys have been sitting around writing a computer program that has solved the five hundred billion permutations that are possible on a checkers board. They claim the program cannot be beat. Take that Chinese Checkers!

People with too much time on their hands can play the AI program at http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~chinook/play/ . Good luck suckers!

When asked what their next task would be, the Alberta “scientists” responded that it was time they got around to fixing this world hunger thing that they had heard so much about.

How the heck did these guys get funding to “solve” checkers? Was Cancer taken? Was SARS unavailable to be studied? I want to hear what you guys think they should have been spending time on instead of freaking checkers…

Tell me what you think about this on our FORUMS.
