I’m sure you’ve all heard of my unabashed love for Pac Man: CE, but other than a few titles, mainly Prince of Persia and Worms, most of the XBLA games kinda suck. Well, Microsoft had their big pre-TGS News conference and amongst their announcements were the tasty tidbits regarding upcoming XBLA games, Ikaruga and Rez HD!!!!

Holy crap.

Ikaruga, in case you live in a cave, is considered one of the best, if not THE best, vertical-scrolling shooters of all time! It originally came out on the Dreamcast and has been a niche classic. Rez, on the other hand, is credited with being one of the forerunners of rhythm based games, even though its a shooter at heart, also a niche classic. Try getting an original copy on eBay for less than fifty bucks. Good luck!

Now this is what XBLA should have been all along. Not totem ball, not dig dug, and definitely not Paperboy. Gawd that sucked. Now we have Rez, Ikaruga along with other confirmed games such as Marvel v. Capcom, Quake III: Arena, Battlestar Galactica, Castle Crashers and War World. I may almost have to put down Halo 3 to play some of these tasty morsels…

Whoa… Yeah I was just kidding about that last part.
