Those of you that know me know that I’m always up for a good debate. I love it when people make rational arguments and am always willing to listen to (and give credit for) a well thought out opinion regardless of whether it aligns with my personal thoughts. I’m like the teacher in school that valued effort almost as much as the correct answer in that respect. But so many people are throwing down the “But you can’t compare those, they’re not the same” disclaimed that frankly, I’m getting a bit pissed off over it. If you can’t make your point, give up, just don’t throw down the “can’t compare” card… it’s a sign of weakness in most cases.
Let’s take a look at some of the things you can’t compare: Nintendo’s Virtual Console and Xbox Live Arcade, Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network, Nintendo’s Virtual Console and Playstation Network, Xbox Live and Playstation Home, PC Gaming and Console Gaming, PS3/360 and the Wii, the Nintendo DS and the PSP… I mean the list goes on and I’ve seen ALL of those disclaimers thrown out there and I’m here to tell you, you’re all full of crap. If things need to be identical to be compared, then you’ve lost the very definition of comparing things… YES, they’re different. Point out the differences, discuss them and their merits. That’s the whole frickin’ point!
