At least 6 pallets of Sony’s Playstation 3 consoles, were stolen from an eighteen wheeler at a truck stop in Illinois, early Wednesday morning. After making his getaway and pulling back the tarps that covered his stolen inventory, the thief promptly returned the merchandise.

“I was hoping to get something I could fence. I saw the big Sony logo on the side of the truck and figured it must be TVs,” said Lucas Gollem. “But it was a bunch of PS3’s. I can’t get sh** for those things, man.”

Authorities are trying to decide what to charge the man with, as under Illinois state law, you cannot be charged with any serious theft, unless the value of the goods exceeds a minimum threshold.

“This is probably going to be called a petty theft,” stated Trooper Eric Hollis. “I mean it’s not like he stole anything valuable. Now if those had been Xbox 360’s, he’d probably be looking at the death penalty.”
