Rothbart’s Rant #31 - "Chris Crocker Defends Sony" Edition

by Sean “rothbart” Workman How friggin’ dare anyone out there make fun of Sony after all they’ve been through. They lost Kutaragi, they lost several exclusives. They’ve had two friggin’ PR managers. Their European president turned out to be an ass, speaking out of turn, causing them to go through PR battles. All you people care about is… games and making money off them.

THEY’RE A COMPANY! What you don’t realize is that Sony is making you reviewers all this money and all you do is write a bunch of crap about them. They hadn’t come out with a new platform in years. Their slogan is called “PLAY B3YOND” for a reason, because all you people want is B3YOND B3YOND B3YOND B3YOND B3YOND.

LEAVE SONY ALONE! You are lucky they’ve ever exist you BASTARDS!
LEEEAVE SOOOONY ALLLLLONE!…. Please.

And… cue reality. Whew! That was even painful to parody. But you know, it wasn’t particularly hard.

I honestly DO get the sense that no matter what happens, there’s a certain segment of people that won’t be happy. They’re not happy UNLESS they’re complaining. Sony launched after Microsoft in the “next-gen” race, so people expected the system to floor everyone. They got raked over the coals because the system was so expensive, because it had so few games, and because it appeared that the system wasn’t any more powerful and was quite possibly in fact inferior to the 360 that launched a year earlier. People bitched and moaned…

Fast forward to this year. The price has come down and if the 99.9% certain rumors come true, any day now we’ll have a $399 version of the PS3 available. There are some compelling games out now and more due by Xmas. And some of those titles will make people scratch their head as to whether the 360 could even pull them off. It may just be my admittedly biased stance, but these things would seem to directly address the three major complaints up above. Yet people STILL bitch.
