PS NETWORK - On December 17, 2008 at 12:17 AM, the world’s largest “Running Man” train was created in Sony’s new virtual world, PlayStation Home. SGC News’ very own PlayStation Editor Catherine Winters was there to witness it.
It’s always been a problem with gaming: people have loyalties to different companies, consoles and games. These loyalties have led to many arguments in the dankest darkest corners of the internet that we call forums (except our own of course. They’re in a brightest, most prominent corner.) Now wouldn’t it be better if we could all just get along?
Introducing Bias Free Articles®™! To avoid even the slightest controversy, we at SG HQ have come up with a water-tight solution!
Rather than explain the whole process, just have a little click on that ‘continue reading’ button and you’ll soon get the gist of it.

Atari might be flying high now, but earlier this year, the company was facing a much bleaker future. The studio pinned much of its financial hope for 2008 on “Alone in the Dark” following another de-listing notice from Nasdaq. There was reason to believe that the game would sell decently, as it was being developed for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 2 and PC. Unfortunately, for Atari, most critics weren’t impressed with the final product. In fact, many panned the spooky adventure, due to technical and gameplay issues. (more…)

So far, we’ve hyped Far Cry 2, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Fallout 3 as possible candidates for Game of the Year. There’s only two slots left and a TON of games to consider. In considering what is Game of the Year contender, I’m sure many of us look back on our experience with any particular game and ask ourselves an honest question, “What about this experience stood out from the pack?” For me, as with all of our Nominees, this game stands out from the rest of the pack because of the strong emotional response that the game elicits every time I play it.
Today, Microsoft announced that they will continue to move forward with their plans to directly compete with the Wii. Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb has stated “Well, our Avatars have proven to be a huge success. People are spending a LOT of Spacebucks on avatar upgrades such as hats, watches, socks, and keychains. The profit margin on avatars and upgrades are greater than any other item on the Marketplace leading us to recognize their importance ensuring we will strive to release new content on an hourly basis from this week forward.” (more…)

There’s been a lot of talk recently amongst the forums and message boards across the Internets about the response to the Fatalities in Midway’s latest Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe fighting game. While some lament the censorship of one of the Joker’s Fatalities in the U.S., others appear to be rather unhappy with the relatively vanilla Fatalities and Brutalities that appear neither particularly Brutal or Fatal…

The full Fatality and Brutality list, after the jump.

It’s pretty much the end of the world for me. The feature of Microsoft’s New Xbox Experience that I was most excited about is apparently not long for this world, as Netflix announces this morning that it has decided against being an Xbox Live feature, and will instead pursue what it feels is a more lucrative situation with Sony.
