Our buddy Godfree over at Gamertag Radio has just dropped in some info about GTR’s upcoming gaming party, Community Vibes IV. Marking GTR’s 4 year anniversary, CVIV will mix live music with gaming tournaments and the chance to win some ace prizes including Elite 360s, Zunes and games in all-day tournaments on Halo 3, Gears 2 and more. What’s more, SG will be guesting at the event along with SFX360 and Destructoid and others.
Entry to CVIV is free, and the event itself is on Saturday,February 21st at Club Ecco, 168 SE 1st St. Unit 1A, Miami so if you’re in the area it’s definitely worth checking out. Free entry, gaming tournaments, live music, prizes? If I weren’t on the other side of the Atlantic then I’d be marking my calendar.
Rumors abound that the SG Pink Show wants to record their first live in-person show at the event. God help us all.
You can check out all the info and scope out the video promo over at Gamertag Radio.
Re-read that title. This is seriously s**t-hot breaking news here, exclusive to SarcasticGamer.com as well as the GamerCast Network, pretty much every gaming site in the world, and general common sense. PETA have called Fable II the most animal-friendly game of 2008; a not-so-prestigious-but-almost-laughable award that most certainly wont be going to Cooking Mama. The thing is, as UK industry mag EDGE pointed out, Fable II isn’t actually the most animal-friendly game out there.
Peter Molyneux is a never ending source of quotes and post material. The dude never shuts his yapper. When he isn’t pimping Lionhead Studios’ newest title or reviewing said title, the fabled game designer is talking about games. You know, titles like “Fable II” and the next Lionhead project that he continually teases, but refuses to reveal anything about.
Molyneux recently spoke with BBC News about the games he can’t wait to play in 2009. His list is rather…short. In fact, it seems Molyneux is tougher to impress than our very own Rothbart. (more…)
Now, more than ever, gaming is an online beast. Regardless of the genre or platform, if your playing a big name AAA title, chances are your going to spend a lot of time gaming online. Thanks to setups like the PSN, XBL, Steam, X-fire and more, playing your favorite games with your pals has never been easier. Alas, the etiquette for managing your online friends leaves a fair amount to be desired. I blame the parents and rap music, oh and Marilyn Manson too.
Find out why a little patience, some pre-planning and a little common sense can help you manage robust online friends lists and the communication burden associated with them after the jump! (more…)
Microsoft promised to bring us an Xbox 360 paradigm shift akin to black and white television moving to color with their NXE (New Xbox Experience) update this past fall. Apparently all those comments about the 360 “focusing on games” and “Xbox Video Marketplace” being the ultimate one-stop-shop for video content are old and busted… the new hotness? Netflix streaming. Yep, that’s right. Not only that, it seems to be the feature everyone talks about when referencing the update… really?!?! (more…)
In November, Lono argued that 2008 wasn’t the year of the PS3. Spookily, he took note of the price tag and how the 360 was undercutting Sony’s behemoth by exploiting the huge cost. When the NPD sales figures for November were released a few weeks later, the PS3 was well and truly shamed. (more…)
Once every couple years, a game comes along that changes everything. Braid is one of those games. I’m being totally serious right now. What at first seems like a simple platformer with time rewind capabilities quickly turns into an extremely brain-taxing yet very rewarding experience. It’s one of those games with such simple and well thought out game mechanics that it leaves such a permanent impression on your gaming past that you’ll never forget it (kind of like the first time you played Super Mario Bros or Ocarina of Time). If you’ve beaten the game then you know what I’m talking about, if you haven’t, then you need to hit that “continue reading” link so I can hopefully persuade you into buying this game. (more…)
One of the most ambitious, incredibly hyped, and largely delivered games of 2008 had to be Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 4. The game was both a showpiece for the Playstation 3, one of the last large-scale AAA system exclusives, and the end of the Solid Snake saga. The only thing people really seem to be missing from the game is a disc that says “Xbox 360″ on it. (more…)
False alarm, European SG readers. You won’t be receiving this article any later than anybody else in the world; everybody will receive it at the same time. It’s alright.
The thing is, in 2008, a lot of games didn’t receive the same treatment, which is a huge shame. Find out why this is #33 in our Top Gaming Moments of 2008 after the jump!
This year has been a big year for remakes of old-skool gaming franchises. The announcements of brand new Street Fighter, Prince of Persia and Bionic Commando games has driven many a weathered gamer into a feverish frenzy of glee. Or something to that extent.
The thing is, the games I’m referring to are not Street Fighter IV, Prince of Persia’s cel-shaded return, or even next year’s 3D re-imagination of the original Bionic Commando. I’m talking about the remakes of the original classics which hit the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE earlier this year, all of which have been pretty sweet to play.
Hit the jump to see why they’re part of our Top 100 Moments of 2008.
I am going to level with you. I had an extremely difficult time coming up with an intelligent, thoughtful introduction for this story. I was going to tell a joke about Admiral Ackbar and Salacious Crumb, but canned the idea for fear that it would fizzle. Therefore, I will simply ask you watch this trailer, followed by this video.
That was much easier than what I usually do to combat writer’s block. Generally, I bang my head against a wall until something good comes out. Perhaps I should avoid that method in the future. My cranium bruises like a mushy peach. What is my address again? (more…)
Back in August, we announced that SG was going to go one step further toward including the fans into the very fabric of what SG stands for. The launch of the SG Community Podcasts changed the way websites bring their community together, giving anyone a voice, and their own podcast. Plus we made Dave do an incredible amount of work for free. Thanks Dave!
